The 2026 NFL training camp schedule is underway, giving fans their first extended look at this year’s rookie class.

Early practice highlights do not guarantee regular-season production, but training camp can reveal which young players are earning first-team repetitions, building chemistry with their quarterbacks and moving toward immediate roles.

This year’s offensive rookie class includes potential starting quarterbacks, explosive running backs and highly drafted pass catchers who could make an impact from Week 1.

Here are five NFL rookie training camp breakouts to watch in 2026.

Fernando Mendoza, QB, Las Vegas Raiders

Fernando Mendoza enters his first NFL training camp carrying the expectations that come with being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

The Las Vegas Raiders have veteran Kirk Cousins in the quarterback room, so Mendoza may not be forced into the starting lineup immediately. However, every practice gives the rookie another opportunity to prove he can operate head coach Klint Kubiak’s offense.

Mendoza made an encouraging first impression during Las Vegas’ opening training camp practice. The Raiders highlighted his poise and precision as he worked through the offense and distributed the ball to multiple targets. The rookie has also said he feels he has grown significantly since arriving in Las Vegas.

The former Indiana quarterback enters the NFL with a reputation for accuracy, command and composure in important situations. His development will depend on how quickly he adjusts to NFL pressure, coverage rotations and the speed of the professional game.

Cousins may begin the season as the starter, but a strong preseason could make it difficult for Las Vegas to keep its potential franchise quarterback on the sideline for long.

Jeremiyah Love, RB, Arizona Cardinals

Jeremiyah Love is one of the leading 2026 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year candidates entering training camp.

The Arizona Cardinals selected Love #3 overall after finishing the previous season with one of the NFL’s least productive rushing attacks. His speed and big-play ability give Arizona a dynamic weapon capable of changing the offense immediately.

Love joins a crowded Cardinals backfield that also includes James Conner and Tyler Allgeier. Arizona’s official roster preview identified all three as running backs who could see the field on game day, suggesting the rookie may begin his career in a committee.

That should not prevent Love from producing. His acceleration and receiving ability allow him to create explosive plays without needing 25 carries every week.

Love’s biggest training camp tests will be pass protection, ball security and his understanding of the full offensive system. If he proves dependable in those areas, he could quickly earn a significant share of Arizona’s backfield touches.

Denzel Boston, WR, Cleveland Browns

Denzel Boston has the size and opportunity to emerge as one of the top rookie wide receiver breakouts of 2026.

The Cleveland Browns selected Boston with the No. 39 overall pick after a productive career at Washington. At 6-foot-4, he gives Cleveland a large target who can win near the sideline, make contested catches and create scoring opportunities in the red zone.

Boston has already begun developing chemistry with Cleveland’s quarterbacks. During an early training camp practice, he caught a quick pass over the middle from Shedeur Sanders, providing an early look at how his size could be used within the Browns offense.

Cleveland also added rookie receiver KC Concepcion, creating competition for targets behind the team’s established veterans. Boston offers a different skill set because of his physical frame and ability to play through contact.

The Browns’ quarterback situation remains unsettled, which could affect the consistency of the passing game. Still, Boston has the physical tools and potential role to become a reliable target during his rookie season.

Makai Lemon, WR, Philadelphia Eagles

Makai Lemon enters Philadelphia Eagles training camp with a clear opportunity to earn an immediate offensive role.

The Eagles selected Lemon with the 20th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after he won the 2025 Fred Biletnikoff Award as college football’s top wide receiver. During three seasons at USC, Lemon recorded 137 receptions for 2,008 yards and 14 touchdowns.

His first training camp practice offered several clues about how Philadelphia plans to use him. Jalen Hurts’ first completion during team drills went to Lemon, who was also used in pre-snap motion, on short crossing routes and as a punt returner.

That versatility could help Lemon earn snaps early in the season. He can line up outside, move into the slot and be used on designed touches that give him opportunities after the catch.

Lemon will still need to earn his place in a talented Eagles offense, but his route running and ability to play multiple roles make him one of the most interesting rookies at 2026 NFL training camp.

Kenyon Sadiq, TE, New York Jets

Kenyon Sadiq may be the most athletic rookie tight end entering the 2026 NFL season.

The New York Jets selected Sadiq with the No. 16 overall pick after his standout career at Oregon. At the NFL Scouting Combine, he ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash, the fastest time by a tight end since at least 2003.

That combination of size and speed gives the Jets the ability to move Sadiq throughout the formation. He can line up as a traditional tight end, operate from the slot or create mismatches against linebackers and safeties.

New York has also discussed using more two-tight-end and three-tight-end formations featuring Sadiq, Mason Taylor and Jeremy Ruckert. That approach could give the rookie an immediate path to playing time even if he does not open the season as the team’s primary tight end.

Sadiq missed portions of the offseason program following a hernia procedure, making his training camp development especially important. His receiving talent is clear, but blocking assignments and consistency will determine how often he stays on the field.
