BTA World Cup Model Posts 62.5% Accuracy

The 2026 FIFA World Cup gave the BTA Sports model its biggest test yet.

Across all 104 matches, the model correctly predicted 62.5% of match outcomes. Since every match has three possible results, a win, loss, or draw, a random prediction starts with roughly a 33% chance of being correct. BTA Sports finished well above that mark across the entire tournament.

Every prediction was made before kickoff and graded against official results and closing odds from 11 United States sportsbooks. Nothing was changed after the matches were played.

Accuracy Increased With Confidence

The strongest part of the model’s performance was how accuracy improved as confidence increased.

Across the 54 picks with more than 50% conviction, the model was correct 74.1% of the time. On its 28 strongest picks, with more than 60% conviction, accuracy climbed to 82.1%.

The model also performed well during the knockout rounds, correctly predicting 21 of 32 results for a 65.6% success rate.

The Model’s Best World Cup Calls

Ivory Coast 1–0 Ecuador (Jun 14) — BTA: Ivory Coast 63% // Vegas: Ivory Coast 29%

Türkiye 3–2 USA (Jun 26) — BTA: Türkiye 37% // Vegas: Türkiye 28%

A Strong Step Forward

These results do not mean every prediction was correct, and they do not guarantee profitability in betting markets. Sportsbooks and closing markets remain extremely efficient, and a strong prediction can still lose in any individual match.

What the World Cup performance demonstrated is that the BTA Sports model can consistently evaluate teams and players, assign meaningful probabilities, and become more accurate when the underlying data produces greater conviction.

Across all 104 matches, there was no cherry-picking and no adjustment after the results. The model was tested against the entire tournament and delivered a 62.5% match-outcome success rate, including 82% accuracy on its highest-confidence selections.

That is what betting with data looks like: not guaranteed outcomes, but clearer probabilities, stronger context, and better-informed decisions.
