Super Bowl LX: 3 Keys To Victory For Each Team

The Super Bowl is rarely about trick plays or wild surprises. Most years it comes down to a few simple things done better than the opponent. For the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots, the formula in 2025 is clear:

Seattle Seahawks

1. Let The Defense Control The Game

Seattle’s defense has been one of the defining forces of the 2025 season, so effective that advanced metrics rank them among the best teams ever tracked by DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average). Their unit has generated consistent pressure, limited explosive plays, and forced opposing offenses off the field. For the Seahawks, imposing that defensive identity early will disrupt New England’s rhythm and force mistakes.

2. Stay Balanced on Offense

This season, the Seahawks were at their best when they avoided becoming pass heavy. Their wins usually came when the run game was involved early and the quarterback was not forced into high risk situations. When Seattle involved both the ground game and the passing game, they controlled the clock better and kept pressure off their defense. Staying balanced limits predictable situations and helps the offense stay efficient in every quarter.

3. Win The Turnover Battle

The Seahawks’ defense was opportunistic in 2025, forcing 28 turnovers during the season. Taking the ball away consistently puts opponents in tougher positions and gives Seattle’s offense more chances to score with short fields. On the other end, Sam Darnold will need to limit his turnover woes, as he led all Quarterbacks with 20 turnovers (14 INT / 6 FUM).

New England Patriots

1. Be Efficient On Offense

The Patriots offense thrived in 2025 by staying efficient rather than explosive. New England scored 28.8 points per game this regular season while ranking among the league leaders in third down conversion rate and time of possession. They avoided negative plays and consistently stayed ahead of the chains, which allowed them to control games even when scoring was tight. Sustaining drives and turning possessions into points limits the Seahawks’ explosive offense and keeps the game on New England’s terms.

2. Keep Seattle Out Of The Red Zone

New England’s defense was one of the league’s worst red zone units in 2025, allowing touchdowns on more than 60 percent of opponent red zone trips.  Keeping Seattle out of the red zone forces them to settle and prevents momentum swings. In a Super Bowl where every point matters, red zone defense can quietly decide the outcome.

3. Force Turnovers On Defense

Turnovers were not a defining strength of New England’s defense during the regular season, as they finished with a relatively modest takeaway total compared to other top teams. But that changed in the playoffs, where they forced 5 turnovers, several of them coming in high leverage moments that flipped games. That ability to create takeaways at the right time has helped carry them to the Super Bowl. Against Seattle, forcing Sam Darnold into turnovers, in which he is prone to do so, can turn the tide at any point.
