This weekend was driven by big power swings, breakout offensive production, and one strong start that helped close out the weekend. Four different players hit 3+ home runs, while Sonny Gray delivered one of the cleaner outings on the mound.
1. Hunter Goodman (Rockies)
Hunter Goodman had the biggest power weekend in baseball, hitting 4 home runs and driving in 8 RBIs against Minnesota. His best game came Saturday, when he went 3-for-5 with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs in Colorado’s 8-5 win. Goodman also homered Friday and drove in three runs, giving him back-to-back games where his power completely changed the scoreboard. Even with a quieter Sunday, his weekend stood out because of how much damage he created in such a short span.
2. Junior Caminero (Rays)
Junior Caminero stayed locked in for Tampa Bay, going 5-for-10 with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs against Arizona. He homered in all three games, starting the series with a three-RBI performance Friday before adding another homer Saturday and finishing with a 3-for-3, HR, 2 RBI game on Sunday. Caminero gave the Rays consistent power all weekend, and every game included at least one major swing from the middle of the order.
3. Luis García Jr. (Nationals)
Luis García Jr. was one of the hottest bats of the weekend, going 7-for-11 with 3 home runs and 6 RBIs against Baltimore. After going hitless Friday, he exploded over the final two games, collecting four hits with a homer Saturday before adding 2 home runs and 5 RBIs on Sunday. García helped drive back-to-back Nationals wins, giving Washington both contact and extra-base production when it needed it most.
4. Esmerlyn Valdez (Pirates)
Esmerlyn Valdez gave Pittsburgh a breakout weekend, going 6-for-9 with 3 home runs and 4 RBIs against Cincinnati. He homered in all three games, including a 3-for-4 performance with a double, homer, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs in Sunday’s 9-4 win. Valdez did damage almost every time he got a pitch to hit, turning a three-game homer streak into one of the most efficient offensive weekends of the slate.
5. Sonny Gray (Red Sox)
Sonny Gray delivered the top pitching performance of the weekend, shutting down the Yankees on Sunday night. He went 7.1 scoreless innings, allowing just 1 hit with 9 strikeouts and 1 walk in Boston’s 5-4 win. Gray carried a no-hit bid into the eighth inning and gave the Red Sox the kind of start they needed against a division rival. The combination of length, strikeouts, and limited traffic made it one of the cleanest pitching lines from the June 26-28 slate.
