World Cup Betting Guide: How to Bet on Soccer

Soccer is one of the most popular sports in the world to bet on, and for good reason, the variety of markets goes far beyond simply picking a winner. Whether you’re interested in the final result, how individual players perform, or how many goals get scored, there’s a bet for every type of fan.

Game Props:

3-Way Moneyline:

The 3-Way Moneyline is the standard way to bet on a soccer match. You pick one of three outcomes, home win, away win, or draw, and if the 90-minute result matches your selection, the bet wins.

Tie No Bet:

Tie No Bet removes the draw from the equation, giving you a two-outcome market instead of three. If you back a team and the match is tied after 90 minutes, your bet is voids and you receive your stake back.

Both Teams To Score (BTTS):

Both Teams To Score is a simple yes or no bet on whether each side will find the net at least once during the match. The final scoreline and winner doesn’t matter, only whether both teams score.

Total Goals:

Total Goals looks at the combined number of goals scored by both teams over 90 minutes (plus stoppage time).

Team Total Goals:

Similar to Total Goals, but this market focuses on just one team’s scoring output. You predict whether a specific team will score over or under the listed number of goals in the match.

Goal Differential (Spread):

The Goal Differential market works like a traditional point spread. One team is listed as a favorite and must win by a set number of goals, while the underdog can lose by that margin and still cover.

Player Props:

Goals:

This market lets you bet on whether a specific player will score during the match. The bet wins as long as the selected player finds the net at least once, regardless of when they enter the game.

Assists:

This bet wins if your selected player directly sets up a goal during the match. An assist is credited when a player’s pass, cross, or touch immediately leads to a teammate scoring.

Shots:

Shots tracks the total number of attempts, on or off target, a specific player takes during the game. You predict whether their shot total will finish over or under the posted line.

Shots on Target:

Similar to Shots, but this market only counts attempts that are on frame, shots that either go in or require a save. It’s a tighter market that rewards backing players who consistently test the goalkeeper.
