The first weekend after the All-Star break gave us some massive individual performances across MLB. From dominant pitching starts to huge power weekends at the plate, several players came out of the break looking ready to carry momentum into the second half. Here are the top five player performances from this weekend:

1. Drake Baldwin, Atlanta Braves

Drake Baldwin gets the top spot after one of the best offensive weekends of the season. Across three games against the Rangers, Baldwin went 10-for-14 with 5 runs, 3 home runs, and 8 RBIs. He hit .714 over the weekend and was locked in from start to finish.

His biggest performance came Sunday, when he went 5-for-5 with 2 home runs and helped Atlanta win the series. Baldwin had multiple hits in all three games and gave the Braves consistent production every time he stepped to the plate. For a catcher to put together that kind of weekend, especially with that much power and no strikeouts, it was easily one of the most impressive stretches in baseball.

2. Wilyer Abreu, Boston Red Sox

Wilyer Abreu was right in the middle of Boston’s huge weekend against Tampa Bay. Across four games, Abreu went 5-for-14 with 5 runs, 4 home runs, 6 RBIs, and a .357 batting average. The overall average was strong, but the power is what made his weekend stand out.

Abreu homered twice in the second game of Friday’s doubleheader, then followed it up with another two-homer game on Saturday. His second homer Saturday was a go-ahead shot in the seventh inning, giving Boston another comeback win during its hot streak. Four home runs in two days is enough to land near the top of any weekend performance list.

3. Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Los Angeles Dodgers

Yoshinobu Yamamoto delivered the best pitching performance of the weekend, throwing a complete game in the Dodgers’ 8-2 win over the Yankees. Yamamoto went all 9 innings, allowed 2 runs, and struck out 7 while giving Los Angeles exactly what it needed during a doubleheader.

The timing made the outing even bigger. With the Dodgers needing length from their starter, Yamamoto gave the bullpen a break and controlled the Yankees’ lineup from start to finish. Complete games are rare enough, but doing it against the Yankees in a high-profile matchup made this one of the defining performances of the weekend.

4. Tarik Skubal, Detroit Tigers

Tarik Skubal was dominant in his start against the Angels, throwing 7 scoreless innings while allowing 5 hits, striking out 9, and walking none. Detroit gave him early run support, and Skubal made sure the game never got close.

What made the outing so impressive was the command. Skubal worked efficiently, filled the strike zone, and kept the Angels from building any real momentum. He finished with 87 pitches, 60 strikes, and 19 swinging strikes, giving the Tigers exactly the type of ace-level performance they needed.

5. Hunter Goodman, Colorado Rockies

Hunter Goodman earns the nod after a huge power performance against the Reds. Goodman only went 3-for-8 with 3 home runs and 5 RBIs. However, all of that damage came Sunday, when he hit three home runs and accounted for five of Colorado’s six runs.
